3 Chinese Astronauts Return After 6 Months At the Tiangong Space Station Three Chinese astronauts landed in a northern desert on Sunday after working for six months to finish construction of the Tiangong space station. At approximately 8:10 PM, a capsule carrying commander Chen Dong and astronauts Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe came down at a landing location in northern China's Gobi Desert. They shared almost five days in orbit with three colleagues who arrived Wednesday on the Shenzhou 15 mission for their own six month stay. This makes China the first country to have six astronauts in space at the same time. This month, the station's third and final module docked with it. Chen, Liu, and Cai managed five rendezvous and dockings with various spacecraft after arriving at Tiangong, including one carrying the third of the station's three modules. They also went on three spacewalks, broadcasted a live science lecture from the station, and carried out a variety of experiments.
